Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is AliasID and how does it work?

Answer #1:  Click to view this  one-page overview.

Answer #2:  Click to watch this two-minute Demo Video

2. If I already have a Proton Mail account, why do I need this?

Answer #1.  Our system and method ensure that you are 100% anonymous online.  Even though ProtonMail is a high-trust organization, even they will not know your identity if you follow our setup instructions precisely.

Answer #2.  Are you familiar with how to send “Self-destructing” emails on Proton?  (they disappear permanently on a preset schedule that you control).  Also, do you know how to send secure, encrypted emails to non-Proton users such as Gmail or Microsoft Outlook users that are password protected so only your recipient can open them?  How about both of those two security features – combined?  These and other advanced features are part of our training and support program.

Answer #3.  When ProtonMail is properly set up and used with our other Mobile Apps and on your PC or laptop, you are guaranteed anonymity, backed by our $1 Million Privacy Protection Guarantee. Not available with Proton alone.

3. Where can I find directions and how to setup and use AliasID?

Answer:  Here is a webpage with a downloadable New User Guide and a series of short (2 to 4-minute) videos that walk you through setup step by step.  If you still need help, you may schedule an appointment with one of our Tech Support Team, and we would be happy to help you.

4. I looked at the plans you offer.  Each one covers VPN for one device.  Is there an additional charge for installing the system on other devices?

Answer:  Yes. Our VPN providers (we have several) all offer VPNs for all your devices (10 or more) for a small monthly or annual fee.  Typically, $3 or so per month.  However, your AliasID is a family plan and covers up to five (5) family members, each with a VPN for one device.  So technically, unless you need to cover more than five (5) devices - you would not need any additional VPN coverage.

5.  If I am already with LifeLock, do I have to cancel with them first before coming to you?
Answer:  No.  LifeLock is a good insurance policy.  However, they are primarily like car insurance - they cover you "After" the damage is done and help remediate or fix it.  AliasID is powerful prevention from protecting your information to monitoring the Darknet in real time for updates on our Member's information.  Our Darknet database is used by 50% of the Fortune 500 for Risk Management as it is the only comprehensive Darknet database updated every 24 hours with more than 4 billion email addresses monitored (including all of yours, most likely).

6.  If I have a promo code, do I enter it after selecting the Membership protection I would like?
Answer:  Yes.  In the shopping cart with the Membership level of your choice on the right-hand side of the cart, you will see a link for "Promo Code"

8. How does the 45-day risk-free trial work?
Answer:  If you sign up for any of our Memberships, and within the first 45 days, you are not totally delighted for any reason, you may cancel and receive a full refund and owe nothing. We believe in earning your business the old-fashioned way - with great products and customer service.

9. What country are you based in?

Answer: We are a U.S.-based company; however, some of our technology partners are based in Switzerland to take advantage of the Swiss privacy laws.

10.  AliasID includes an encrypted phone app with an unlisted number for talk and text.  Does this mean that I'll be assigned a new phone number?

Answer:   Yes, but the new number is in a Phone App only which you may turn on or off.  You do not have to give up your current phone number, and your cellphone will still work the same way it normally does when your AliasID app is "off.”

11.  I already have a VPN. Should I cancel it or is it  OK to continue with it?

Answer: The VPN included in your AliasID is for one (1) device only and includes free unlimited data forever.  However, if you have multiple devices, you would need to purchase an upgrade, so if you like your current VPN, I would keep it. We regularly review and rank the best-performing VPN companies.  We are brand agnostic.  Think of us as the “Consumer Reports” for privacy and security with independent reviews.

12. What if I have multiple - phones, iPad, and desktops?
Answer:  the only limiting factor is the VPN for one (1) device is included for free (forever).  All of the other privacy tools will work on all your devices.   An additional VPN for the different devices could be purchased for a few dollars a month (if needed), but you may wish to consider just putting the VPN on the device you use the most as a good solid place to start.

13. My family members are interested in AliasID also. We are a family of 4 with multiple devices also. Would the cost be the same for each of them as for me?
Answer:  You may share your Membership with your family (of up to 5 people).  Each AliasID comes with a VPN for one device, so they would each get one Free.

14. AliasID Memberships include ten virtual bank cards. I only have credit cards. Are they covered?
Answer:  The virtual MasterCard and VISA cards in your Membership are linked just like a debit card to your checking account.  However, you may assign them for use, such as Amazon.com, or pay the water bill only and with preset limits of your choice.  Also, you may pause, stop, start, or cancel them anytime.  So if a criminal or bad guy ever hacks one of your cards, it could only be used on the account it is set up for and only for a dollar limit you set.  And if you cancel that virtual card - the bad guys don't have your real credit card or bank account information which can be very frustrating and time-consuming to fix.

15. Will it be necessary to change all my passwords?

Answer: That is up to you, but some clients do.  Others like to use their AliasID email address and unlisted phone number ONLY for their banking and financial accounts to protect their hard-earned assets.  And they never use their AliasID anywhere else, so a hacker cannot get them from social media, emails, texts, etc.  I thought that was a very clever way to use AliasID.  But each person makes that decision as they go.  But you always have it available to you.

16. If I get a discount with a Promo Code, do I get that discount throughout my subscription?

Answer:  Yes. The discount continues as long as you renew and maintain your Membership status.

15. What is the difference between the three (3) AliasID Plans?  Can you explain how this works?

Standard:  Includes a complete AliasID for each of your family members.

Premium:  includes everything in Standard plus Professional 24/7 Monitoring of the Darknet of hackers selling sensitive personal information, such as your passwords or log in credentials, to protect you against Identity Theft.

Platinum Plus:  Includes everything in Standard & Premium, Plus a $1 Million Identity Theft Insurance Policy.

16. Does AliasID work in Canada?

17. How do I get the QR Code to work on my phone?

18. My son and daughter are interested in AliasID as well.  How would that work?
